about

"The sound of the Gion Shoja bell echoes the impermance of all things. The proud do not endure, they are like a dream on a spring night, the mighty fall at last, they are as dust before the wind (From the Tale of Heike)

Wind has a large influence on our weather patterns and so a great connection to our lives, this will only increase as the global climate changes. In the UK the autumn/winter experienced a record number of damaging storms within a short span.
This album was recorded during this time and is one continuous journey through the ever changing beauty, mystery and power of wind.
It shows us that there are forces beyond our control and in the face of it our human existence is like a tiny wave on a vast ocean.

This album is in memory of Rowan Forestier-Walker who sadly died before our planned collaboration came to fruition.

Most of the sounds heard on this recording are from wind generated sources. These include blown trees, leaves, sea waves, derelict huts, windmills and farm/industrial buildings, tarpaulin, boat rigging, comunication masts, various bells/chimes/gongs.

Thanks and farewell.
